In 1981, toy company Mego (shelling out a trifling sum of $2500 for the Dukes of Hazard license) released a set of eight 3 ¾" action figures to accompany the hugely popular TV show. There were eight in total, and while the Bo and Luke figures were made with elastic bands and had ten points of articulation, the rest were solid, with articulation in the neck, shoulders and hips only.
With these figures, Mego also produced a small range of vehicle sets, which naturally included the General Lee (the car had a sunroof so that figures could be placed inside, but different sets appeared with different figures), Boss Hogg's Cadillac (which for some reason was only released in Canada and is therefore highly sought-after), and a police car chase set (of which there were two versions). Planned but unfortunately not released, was the Cooter's Garage playset, although pictures of this set did appear in the Mego dealers' catalogue. Others were also planned including a General Lee crash set, but again never made it to production.
In addition to these smaller action figures, Mego also released a set of four 8" figures (Bo, Luke, Daisy and Boss Hogg), although there were two more figures added temporarily, and of course, there were variations to keep collectors going (including re-releases of Bo and Duke with the heads of Coy and Vance on them).
Sadly, no vehicles or playsets were made to accompany the 8" Dukes figures, but Mego was a floundering company, and even the popularity of the Dukes of Hazzard TV show and toy line could not change that.
