Empire Island UK was launched in July 2002, born from a love of toys and collecting that has become progressivley stronger in both of us since we were very young. The site was primarily dedicated to Star Wars, Thunderbirds and The A-Team, which were our firm favourites, however, we found it necessary (and far more interesting) to branch out into other areas, and so EIUK swelled to accommodate ranges such as Masters of the Universe, Thundercats, Marvel, M.A.S.K., Teenage Mutant Hero/Ninja Turtles, Ghostbusters and Transformers. Further down the line, we also added sections for The Lord of the Rings as its popualrity (and our love for it) blossomed, Action Force/GI Joe, Austin Powers, Shrek, WWF Wrestling (the earlier years), Oh! My Goddess, and The Muppets. The EIUK website has taken many forms, beginning as a basic webpage, before developing into a fully-fledged website, including many new features such as information pages for the various shows and films, an A-Team archive (which grows ever bigger as we uncover more treasures), a message board, a chatroom (which was removed in 2004), competitions, polls and a calendar. As our skills have been developing, so have EIUK's layouts, with varying degrees of success, until at last, it has reached the lofty heights of web design satisfaction in its current incarnation. That then, is the EIUK story so far, short though it may be. It has been an enormous amount of fun, however, and we have seen and done many things that wouldn't have been possible if we hadn't begun EIUK. We hope to continue the fun, and to continue providing toy collectors and enthusiasts everywhere with the means to expand their sprawling collections. To all who have visited the EIUK site at its varying stages of growth, and provided us with your valuable custom, we thank you, and hope you continue to visit us - without you, our little toy business would be less than little, and we really do appreciate the custom and the lovely comments we have received from you all. What will EIUK look like in the future? What changes will be made? Only time will tell, and of course, you, the visitor will have much input into what this site will become, so please keep coming back, and if you have any comments or suggestions, we will welcome them. In the meantime, thank you once again for your support and interest, and may toys continue to rule, as they always have done. |
